New Playlist Alert: Indie Builds & Cinematic Journeys

A good story always has an arc. Whether that story spans a blockbuster trilogy or a :30 social promo video, it has to go somewhere. And what better way to emphasize the moments that move the story forward than with music that reflects those dynamic shifts.

We get a lot of requests for music that builds, that starts small and gets big, that ends with a massive finale. Regardless of genre, those emails and briefs need the music to match and perhaps even amplify the story being told. Don’t worry, Music Supervisor, we’ve got you.

Most of our music has intentional builds and growth throughout the tracks, designed for easy editing by keeping our post-professional colleagues in mind from the start. But when you need the big guns, our curated collection of labels has more than a few options.

Don’t believe us? Just check out the waveforms.

We assembled two separate playlists that bring together tracks with some of our most impactful crescendos and far-stretching dynamics. For the traditional folks we’ve got Cinematic Journeys, and for those looking for a modern approach, Indie Builds.

Here are just a few of our favorite tracks from these two playlists :

“THEME: Rise and Fight”

Full of epic scores, our Picture Puncture label is home to big orchestral moments and builds. This track is no exception. It starts with a somber, solo piano before slowly adding strings and hints of the theme. The pace quickens and shifts into a defiant anthem for a hard-fought rise to the top. These cues aren’t just for movie trailers and video games anymore. Recently, you can see them used for anything from emotional spots recognizing healthcare workers to unexpected companies promoting social justice.

“My Safe Place”

Strumming guitars and spacey keys set the tone before indie drums add to the growing energy. The simple guitar leads enter late and solidify the arc of the track. There’s a positivity and spirit to “My Safe Place” that never goes over the top, despite the dynamic changes. Think of this track like a warm smile from a stranger that helps you make it through a hard day. It’s a small gesture that can have a big effect.

“Greater Than”

Hitting the electronic side of things, this softer track still has plenty of range. Just wait for the big drum entrance at 1:46 and you’ll feel the full impact. “Greater Than” features falling synth lines and spacious pads that contribute to the build and textural shifts. Tech companies, healthcare, and brands with a vision for the future will hear the potential.
