Highlights from the Catalog — 2020

The year 2020 will forever be met with a collective groan followed by flashbacks of empty toilet paper shelves at the grocery store. Pandemics and dumpster fires aside, our dedication to sharing all manner of handcrafted sonic inspiration has never wavered.

We’re extremely proud of the music we deliver to you and your clients. We’ve continued to be selective about what we release rather than adding bucketloads of uninspired noise to an ever-cluttered and impossibly noisy world.

While we love all of the releases we’ve put out this year, here are a few favorites from each of our curated labels. Thanks for being a part of this.

Unique, bizarre, sparse instrumentation and quirky melodies, all built with a childlike sense of wonder. You’ll hear some kazoo, banjo, marimba, acoustic guitar, and more. These ingredients are used sparingly so that the cartoon inspired spirit is never drowned out. Ideal for cutesy, attention-grabbing advertising spots, products aimed towards young families, or furry companions.

The repetitive male vocal sample is backed by a trunk-thumping groove and an extreme amount of club swagger. You also get big beats of the 808, glitches, and an earworm of a lead line for the breaks. Put this one with irreverent videos looking to turn some heads, and oddball social videos.

SUPE-003_WinSomeLoseSome_RyanNecci_3500px.jpg

Recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN, this bruiser of a country hit features confident male vocals and blue collar lyrics built for the average joe. The solid mid-tempo, high energy, overdriven guitar twang and catchy chorus solidifies this as an anthem for anyone who’s been beaten down, only to get back up again. Think big ‘ole automobiles, whiskey, and beer.

OSPK-079_3500px.jpg

Immature Rock & Roll from those damned kids that won’t stay off our lawns. Distorted guitar, fuzz bass, energetic drum beats all accented by some snotty, rebellious, snark-bomb shouts like “No School, No Rules,” “OK Boomer,” and the timeless rock trope, “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” Snot Rock Vol. 2 has the energy and absurdity of The Hives combined with the sounds of the British Invasion.

MOPM-078_HumanityReality_3500px.jpg

Today’s teams are spread far and wide, all working towards the same goal. Humanity Reality scores the triumph, teamwork, and enduring spirit of the modern workplace. Dramatic strings emphasize the struggles and aspirations while electric guitars and drums provide the backbone of the tracks. There’s plenty of movement and sonic arcs that echo each project’s journey.

HK-17_Booty-Trap_cover_3500px.jpg

Let’s take it a trip to Booty Trap Town. Twerk-worthy beats for anything from clubbing to highlight reels, full of throbbing bass lines and deep grooves with an electric attitude. This album exudes confidence, swagger, and drama, but there’s always a bit of chaos to keep things exciting.

UND-54-Under-the-Surface-v3_3500px.jpg

The retro synthwave sounds of Under the Surface v3 have some serious 80s vibes. We’ve got forgotten soundtracks to cult horror movies, TV shows with big hair and talking cars, cyberpunk dystopias, and an excessive amount of karate. Leaning dark, these tracks have super sequenced synths and fat drum machine beats. This album was created by Will Bush of Immortal Girlfriend, one of the incredible bands we have in our catalog of indie artists.

E&E-030_DelicateDream_cover_3500px.jpg

Delicate Dream is a hauntingly beautiful album featuring fragile piano melodies and indie synth atmospheres. Somber moments with an air of hopefulness fill distant dreams, building textures and dynamics throughout. They never get too big, but grow with an arc that lends itself to contemplation, emotional soundtracks, and dreamy vignettes.
