Los Angeles, CA — On the evening of Thursday, February 6th, the Guild of Music Supervisors held their 10th Annual Awards celebration. Those of us in the industry know how integral these creatives are to forming the sound of a story, fulfilling the vision of a director, spinning an impossible number of plates while jumping through endless hoops to land the right song for the right scene. While there has been more exposure to the craft of music supervision in recent years thanks in large part to the work of the Guild of Music Supervisors, it is still a profession and field that is largely unrecognized. But not at the GMS Awards.
On this night, the hard work and expertise of Music Supervisors was on full display with awards for music supervision in film, TV, video games, advertising, and best songs written/recorded for film and TV. We were thrilled to be a part of it and have a team member on the floor. The stars were out as well with appearances from Michael Bolton, Emmylou Harris, Kristen Chenoweth, Jay Roach, Burt freaking Bacharach, and Alex Winter. And when Bill S. Preston Esq. shows up, you know that an excellent time is in store.
