Palindroma

Dramatic stories from beginning to end to beginning (DAA-025)

Palindromes are defined as a word or phrase that reads the same backward as forward. Most commonly used within the confines of written language, we thought we’d bring this device into our labs and not only utilize palindromes for track titles, but the general shape of each track as well. Ready your racecar… it’s time for Palindroma (DAA-025).

Composed by Ehren Ebbage, the arrangements on this album swell in the middle, and have an outro that matches or mirrors the intro. Linear shifts create a natural rise and fall that is ideal for show intros and themes, advertising spots with an arc, and documentary footage. Who would’ve thought that palindromes could be so useful? The track title “I Did, Did I” answers that question, or does it…

“Aibohphobia” is a melodramatic juxtaposition of modern beats, mysterious pianos, and dramatic strings. The word literally means “the fear of palindromes” which is more than ironic, and the track holds all the tension that someone that fears palindromes might feel when listening to this album. Since palindromes take all shapes, sizes, and moods, the reflective “Rise To Vote Sir” delivers warmth in a modern folk-ish setting while retaining authenticity and drama.

Palindroma is full of symmetry and balance, a welcome addition to the original, esoteric stylings found in our Dancing About Architecture label. Plus palindromes, have we mentioned the palindromes?
