Inspiring Friends

Encouraging curiosity and fostering confidence among neighbors with trips into the imagination (MOPM-085)

This August marks the 20th anniversary of the final episode of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. Inspiring generations of young people, including many of us at The License Lab, Fred Rogers’ legacy is a beautiful reminder that we should all stay curious, have empathy for our neighbors, and take frequent trips into the imagination… by trolley if possible.

In loving tribute to Mr. Rogers and his work, we’ve created an album inspired by the show’s messages and stimulating music.

For Inspiring Friends (MOPM-085), Sam Ecoff, Brandon Mathieus, Richard Andrew Leverone Jr., and Evan Conway of the Modus Operandi team of collaborators put on their classic sweaters to score storytelling vignettes and make-believe adventures in a flowing, magical, occasionally jazzy style. Like the wonderfully diverse and vast world we live in, there is a wide range of instruments and moods here to match wherever your curiosity takes you. Keeping in the spirit of the show, these tracks are largely peaceful and hopeful. From the childlike kalimba and vibraphone sounds of “Wonder In Their Eyes,” to the quirky and lazy piano wanderings on “Good Day For Daydreams,” this album encourages creative confidence in any form.

Children’s programming, emotional/caring adverts, and imaginative science documentaries with heart will be ideal fits for Inspiring Friends, but don’t let us stop your imagination from doing its thing. Go ahead, lace up those walking shoes and throw on a cardigan for a trip to see how crayons are made.

A sincere thank you to Fred Rogers for memories that will last a lifetime, and putting out positive and inclusive messages to so many for so many years.
