For the discerning visual producer, a couple of quality ingredients and a little inspiration are all you need.
In an age of infinite options, it takes discipline and a practiced hand to know when to stop and keep things simple. No longer limited by space on the tape (or hard drive) and stocked with plug-in instruments and sounds that replicate items from the real world with startling precision, it’d be all too easy to churn out track after track with layer upon layer upon layer.
But that’s simply not what many stories need.
After all, production music should rarely, if ever, be the star of the show. It’s there to support your message. The best music for production needs to be authentic, purposeful, sincere. Otherwise it undermines the story it was intended to lift up.
We know that sometimes (most of the time?) less is more… and when the performances are genuine and the music is inspired, anything more than a trio can often be overkill.

On some tracks, we sprinkle the gorgeous tones of the cello with a little sound design and effects to create backdrops that feel both timeless and of the moment. On others, we keep it classic by letting the cello do the talking all by itself. Said to be one of the instruments that most closely replicates the human voice, the cello can emote like none other, giving serious weight and motion to any image and story it accompanies.
