New Playlist Alert: Roséwave

It’s a genre that defies definition, though NPR claims “We didn't invent a genre; we just gave the lifestyle a name. We saw pink drinks come out in tones of rose quartz, cotton candy, and deep carnation — a spectrum of pink, of flavor, of summer desire, all wrapped in bottles and tallboys.”

So it’s a lifestyle? Who knows. But it’s the sound of summer fun, but not TOO much summer fun. Maybe an appropriate amount for a girl’s night or backyard party.

Here's our take on Roséwave. It’s full of summer sounds, feel-good beats and anthems, classic soul, empowering rhythms, and new wave. Roséwave makes you feel good. It’s positive and uplifting while staying pretty casual. Like we said, you don’t want to get TOO crazy.

Roll down your windows and sing along (new car commercials), laugh with some friends while traveling around the world (looking at you Airbnb), sit in the comfort of a revitalized backyard (home and garden upgrade much?). And like a big ‘ole box of cheap rosé, the list of practical applications for this stuff never ends.

Here are just a few of our favorite Roséwave tracks:

“Running Up The Score”

A brash and rousing indie rock empowerment jam, built for driving down the streets with the windows down and stereo up. Guitar and drum driven, a great female chorus hook, and the ultimate feel-good accents of hey hey heys and 1 2 3 4s. Shout it out loud, it’ll make you feel good.

“Eighties Moment”

You know that moment at the bar when the first few seconds of your favorite song comes on and you’ve had just enough to scream out loud to nobody in particular, “I LOVE THIS SONG!” This song is built for that moment. The percolating drum machines, synth pads, and syncopated synth bass line are reminiscent of some of your favorite eighties tunes, complete with impossibly tall hair, shoulder pads, and rolled up jacket sleeves.

“Pulsing Test Drive”

With a sparkling attitude and sunny skip hop electro pop feel, this midtempo fashionable groove is contented and satisfied. It gets pumping mid way through with bendy and glitched out guitars and a pulsing synth foundation. It’s danceable without being obnoxious, filling you with the right amount of bubbly and positive vibes. And if that doesn’t say “Roséwave” I don’t know what does.
