New Playlist Alert: Setting The Stage
Podcasts are kind of a thing. If that wasn’t obvious pre-pandemic, it should be now. The medium has grown and grown, now with over 2 million active podcasts to satisfy your audio storytelling and interviewing needs. It doesn’t take a genius to see why. It’s easy to tune in and it’s easy to create. All you need is your voice and something to record it. But the good ones do much more than that.
Since not all of us can be Marc Maron, Hrishikesh Hirway, Malcolm Gladwell, or an NPR legend like Terry Gross, let’s start with something more attainable… the intro. A good intro hooks potential new followers while exciting returning ones, setting the stage for whatever comes next. And good intros (usually) have compelling music that matches the tone and welcomes the listener into your world.
Our aptly named Setting The Stage playlist is full of sonically stimulating options for a range of podcast genres. These tracks have movement and personality, great for anything from motivational stories and candid interviews to discussions on cult classic films.
We’ve assembled tracks with clear cut applications along with hidden gems that stray just a bit outside the conventional. Indie oddballs with hip-hop beats, modern folk with foot stomps and claps, trending genres with plenty of energy. Find the right track that matches the story and makes your intro, sponsor break, or teaser stand out from the noise.
Here are just a few of our favorite tracks from Setting The Stage :
“Double Doctor”
Quirky, sweet, motivational, with just the right amount of hype. Postmodern indie pop that switches it up without distracting from the voiceover. The beat and instrumentation come in and out, providing multiple textures while maintaining the mood and momentum of the show opening. NO-VOC and NARR versions available to simplify a bit by removing the vocal samples and leads.
“Cuts Deep”
Starting with twinkling sounds of syncopated guitar harmonics that can be the recognizable audio stamp that your show needs, this track is a driving rock theme that stays steady and true. It feels good, but there’s power and grit in the distorted guitars and drums that give it an underdog resilience.
“Walk On Air”
Smiling and energetic, banjos and melodica. Modern folk that is unmistakably positive and upbeat has a ton of applications. Children’s/parenting podcasts, inspiring interviews, morning mantras, tech trends. This track sounds familiar but the melodica lead gives it an extra splash of personality. And who doesn’t want banjo on their podcast intro?
