Open Up Your Eyeballs & Eardrums

The License Lab is not your usual corporate, standard, run-of-the-mill, production music superstore. And that’s precisely the way we designed it and like it. So while our catalog does not have everything for everyone, what we do have will surprise and delight your eardrums. This article is part of a series that takes a look at each of our meticulously curated labels to show you what they’re all about.

music for visceral moments laced with emotion and subtleties

It’s incredible what the human mind can dream up. From interplanetary exploration rovers to the smallest short story, we have the ability to envision things that do not yet exist.

Eyeballs & Eardrums was created for that theater in your mind, the one that sees the sequence playing out before anyone else, that responds to each step and stumble along the way with empathy and intrigue, inspired by the idiosyncrasies within and the noisy or dusty bits that others may cast aside.

Emotive, eclectic, and crafted in small batches, Eyeballs & Eardrums features cutting edge genres, vintage synthesizers and handcrafted stringed bits, improvisatory compositions, finely honed songcraft. With this level of passion driving the story, it’s easy to watch the scene unfold.

Roll credits (and stay to watch them.)

If there was a Criterion Collection for Eyeballs & Eardrums, these would definitely make the cut.

Oh funk yeah! Down and dirty live funk by some killer players, featuring the inimitable Angie Swan on guitar (David Byrne, Cee Lo). Groove and attitude for days with riffs and beats that just absolutely slay. It’s an album running out of time and itching to get out on the dance floor.

The energy that exists between two musicians who trust each other is hard to describe, but we did our best to capture it here. Completely improvised, this album and these songs existed only in concept until we pushed ‘Record.’ The stringed folk instruments and acoustic guitars perform an intimate dance, moving on collaborative instinct alone. There’s delicate beauty in these tracks, decorated with some further treatment and sonic pressing to serve as the backdrop to your throwback narrative or to your forward-thinking feature.

Infectious beats and filter sweeps keep the party moving in the second volume of our Future Pop series. You’ll hear plenty of bouncing beats, sexy attitude, and positive energy fueling each track, perfectly balancing moments of introspection and bombastic youth. If this is what tomorrow sounds like, I think we’ll be doing just fine.
